Managing User Passwords

Passwords in Identifi are largely managed by the Users themselves.

Administrator Resets:

When the User is initially added to the system, an Administrator will need to send a Password Reset email to allow the User to set up their password.  (This Password Reset can also be used any time the User needs to be reset.)

To initiate the process, select Reset Password from the User's General tab. 

If multiple new users have been added, select them all from the main Users list and click Reset Password from the upper menu.

In either case, the Users will receive an email with a link to the log in page.  Once there, they will be prompted for their User Name (this will need to be provided to them prior) and then guided to create a password.  

Passwords in Identifi must be 12 characters- at least one capital letter, one lower case letter, one number or special character and no spaces.

 

Note: Five unsuccessful login attempts will lock the user's account. The account will automatically unlock after 5 minutes or the user can use 'Forgot Password' to reset their password.

User Resets:

If a User forgets their password, clicking Forgot Password on the log in screen will prompt the same reset email that would be sent if an Administrator clicked the Password Reset button.

Note:  Regardless of whether a User or an Administrator initiates the reset, it is recommended that a user wait at least 1 minute after the password has been reset before attempting to login with the new password.

Password Expiration is set at the installation level, often 60-90 days

Note:  On installations with SSO configured, passwords are managed by the Single Sign On application.
